I remembered one that’s perfect for the season. It wasn’t so much *by* me as *about* me and my first self-made spangenhelm which featured a prominant brass nasal in the 11thC style. Original credit to Baroness M’fanwy and Mistress Gwyneth, and sung to “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”
Avatar the Brass-Nosed Norman (Norman)
Had a very shiny helm (Like a light bulb)
And if you ever saw it (Saw it)
You would be overwhelmed (Doesn't rhyme well)
All of the other Normans (Normans)
Used to laugh and call him names (Like "Saxon")
They never let poor Avatar (Avatar)
Join in any Norman games (Like pillaging)
Then, one foggy Hastings eve
Duke William came to say:
"Avatar with your helm that way"
"Won't you lead the assault on Pevensey!"
Then all the Normans loved him (Loved him)
And they shouted out with glee (Hallelujah)
Avatar the Brass-Nosed Norman (Norman)
You'll go down in history! (Like Odo)
