Illuminated in early dawn
Majestic spire of metal white
Upon a concrete cradle sleeps
For its journey to endless night
Tucked inside three men await
Twenty stories above the ground
Like anxious schoolboys watch the clock
With every heartbeat counting down
At the predestined point in time
Lifelines and walkways fall away
Tower of girders crashes down
They stand alone in the light of day
The candle lights, a deaf’ning roar
Rips through marsh for miles around
Atop a column of fire and smoke
The wingless eagle leaves the ground
As she rises gathers speed
Along computer trails she flies
Mother Earth behind her weeps
Infinity before her lies.
